Venue
Our event will be hosted at Campus Energypolis, Rue de l’Industrie 21-23, conveniently located just steps away from the Sion train station (directions below). Please note that there is no accessible parking near Campus Energypolis, except for payable public parking in town. Opening and closing sessions, as well as oral sessions and symposia, will take place in the Aula Conference room, Rue de l’Industrie 23 (north entrance). Welcoming and registration, along with coffee and lunch breaks, poster sessions, and the conference cocktail, will be held at La Ruche restaurant (mezzanine), Rue de l’Industrie 21 (north entrance).
How to get here?
Switzerland boasts an efficient and comfortable train system. This system offers convenient connections to neighboring countries like France, Italy and Germany. To plan your train travel, we recommend using the Swiss Federal Railways (CFF) website. It’s a user-friendly platform that allows you to check schedules and book tickets efficiently.
For further location that need air travel, we recommend flying into either Geneva Airport (GVA) or Zurich Airport (ZRH) as your arrival point, followed by a convenient train journey to reach Sion. GVA Airport offers a slightly shorter train ride to Sion (approx. 1h50 min), with direct trains departing every 30 min. The journey provides picturesque views of Lake Geneva.
Please note that we adhere to EPFL specific traveling policies aimed at minimizing environmental impact for conferences. We strongly encourage our attendees to comply to these guidelines:
- Train travel must be selected for all international destinations that can be reached in less than six hours.
- Public transportation within Switzerland should be favored over individual motorized vehicles.
- In cases of air travel, only economy or economy+ class can be used for plane journeys that take less than six hours. For longer trips, economy class is highly recommended, flying business class is acceptable.
- Direct flights should be used whenever possible.
